Our Story

The Tribal Expression Way

Not a slogan. A process developed through decades of professional piercing — beginning with founder Keith Kennedy’s decision that children deserve professional piercing too.

The Tribal Expression Way did not begin as a marketing idea. It developed over decades of piercing children and families and learning that the technical piercing and the emotional experience matter equally. Every one of the eight pillars below is a real part of how appointments run at Tribal Expression Kids — and each links to the page that explains it in depth.

1 · The child has a voice

Nothing proceeds simply because the parent wants the piercing. The child participates in the decision. They can ask questions. They can pause. They can stop. They can change their mind.

2 · Honest preparation

We never tell children “it won’t hurt.” We explain that it is a very quick pinch, using familiar comparisons such as a doctor’s needle or dental freezing — without creating unnecessary fear.

3 · Professional needles

Sterile single-use professional piercing needles — never spring-loaded retail piercing guns.

4 · Individual sterilization

Tribal Expression has built its workflow around individual client sterilization for more than two decades — equipment prepared and sterilized for the individual appointment.

5 · Precision placement

Every little ear is different. Placement is carefully mapped rather than rushed — and the child checks and approves the placement before anything happens.

6 · Professional jewellery

ASTM F136 implant-grade titanium and appropriate professional jewellery — correct backs, correct fit, and produced locally in Calgary whenever applicable.

7 · The memory matters

This is often a child’s first voluntary body modification. We treat it as a milestone and a core memory — not a transaction.

8 · Support does not end after the piercing

Aftercare guidance, troubleshooting, downsizing, reinsertion help and questions throughout healing — all the way to full stability.

“I always felt that if kids were going to have their ears pierced, it was my professional duty to provide them with the safest, highest-quality professional piercing experience we could give them.”
